Sidereus Nuncius is a multidisciplinary project jointly commissioned by the Festival Internacional de Musica y Escena, the Festival Internacional Cervantino in Mexico and GRAME in Lyon, to form part of an international year-long celebration of astronomy that took place in 2009 and coincided with the 400th anniversary of the first recorded astronomical observations with a telescope by Galileo Galilei.
I tried to design a space that would be a suitable playground for this exercise, a cross between a planetarium, a church, a science laboratory and an Ed Wood style film set. The costumes were likewise a mix of monk’s cloaks, lab coats, 16th and
17th century pieces and sci- fi costumes.
